Recruiting: The Name of the Business

All network marketers who want to achieve extraordinary results must always remember what their business is about.  We are in the Recruiting/Enrolling business.  We might be selling nutrition or any other product, however, our main activity and goal should always to be recruiting.  You show me a leader who does not recruit and I will show you a dying organization.  Don’t believe the lie that quality is better than quantity.  Recruit everyone you can,  because it is out of the quantity that you’ll find the quality.

When identifying the leaders in your team, you will find that they will possess the following attributes.

This is my Top 20 list:

  1.  Purpose – possessing a “Why” – Why they are part of the team.

  2.  Passion – a passion for what you are doing turns goals and dreams into reality.

  3.  Positive Attitude – the ability to see people and situations in a positive way.

  4.  High Energy Level – strength and stamina to work hard and not wear down.

  5.  Personal Warmth – a manner that draws people to them.

  6.  Integrity – trustworthy, good solid character, words and walk are consistent.

  7.  Responsible – always “comes through,”  no excuses;  job delegated–job done.

  8.  Good Self-Image – feels good about self, others, and life.

  9.  Leadership Ability – has high influence over others.

10.  Followership Ability – willingness to submit, play team ball, and follow

      the leader.

11.  Absence of Personal Problems – personal, family, and business life are

      in order.

12.  People Skills – the ability to draw people and develop them.

13.  Sense of Humor – enjoys life, fails to take self too seriously.

14.  Resilience – able to “bounce back” when problems arise.

15.  Track Record – has experience and success, hopefully in two or more situations.

16.  Great Desire – hungers for growth and personal development.

17.  Self-discipline – willing to “pay the price” and handle success.

18.  Creative – ability to see solutions and fix problems.

19.  Flexibility – not afraid of change; fluid; flows as the organization grows.

20.  Sees “Big Picture” – able to look beyond personal interest and see the

      total picture.

Vision: The Indispensable Quality

There is always that question, “Does the vision make the leader, or does the leader make the vision?”  I believe the vision comes first.  I have known many leaders who have lost their vision, and therefore, lost their power to lead.  People do what people see.  If you couple a vision with a leader willing to implement that dream, you create a massive movement.  People do not follow a dream in itself.  They follow the leader who has that dream and the ability to communicate it effectively.

Helen Keller was asked, “What would be worse than being born blind?”  She replied, “To have sight without vision.”  Sadly, too many people are placed into leadership positions without a vision.  Vision is the key that keeps everyone focused, motivated and committed.

Bobb Biehle , in his book, Increasing Your Leadership says, “Keep in mind the difference between a winner’s and a loser’s mentality.  Winners focus on winning big–not just how to win, but how to win big.  Losers, however, don’t focus on losing, they just focus on getting by!”

Author and preacher, Rick Warren says, “If you want to know the temperature of your organization, put a thermometer in the leader’s mouth.”  Leaders can never take their people farther than they have traveled themselves.  Therefore, the focus of vision must be in the leader.  Like leader – like people.  Followers find the leader and then the vision.  Leaders find the vision and then the people.

Paul Harvey said, “A blind man’s world is bounded by the limits of his touch; an ignorant man’s world by the limits of his knowledge; and a great man’s world by the limits of his vision.”

What is your vision?  How big is it?  My vision is to create a company, an atmosphere within the company, where hundreds of thousands of people in the world can change their lives both physically and financially by being part of this massive movement.  My vision is to create hundreds of millionaires;  to help thousands of mothers to become stay at home moms and build a full time income with Sportron from their home.  My vision is to provide the finest products available at competitive prices that produce amazing results.  My vision is to provide an opportunity where everyone who is prepared to do what it takes, sees their dreams and goals become a reality.  I’m pleased to say that after 17 years, we have accomplished so many of our goals and dreams, however we have only begun.  I feel like President Reagan when he said “You ain’t seen nothing yet!  The best is yet to come.”  We have BIG visions for this company and for everyone who wants to be part of this massive movement.

WORLD REPORT…(A Must Read Report)

bottle_grapes2SPORTRON U.S.A.

Last night, Dr. Stephen Wilson and I launched the even more powerful new Viva, that includes additional Resveratrol, Quercetin, Pomegranate and a new ingredient, Indian Goose Berry.  The previous quantity of our proprietary blend was 540 mg, the new blend is 1050 mg.  The ORAC score has increased from 136,000 to 244,050.  Viva truly is an amazing product.  I believe that the only reason a person is not drinking Viva is because they don’t know about it.  Literally everyone in America and around the world should be drinking one to two ounces of Viva every day.

Viva is causing an explosion in Sportron all around the world.   We are hearing the most exciting Viva results.  These certainly are very exciting days and I encourage you to share the Viva story with everyone you know.  There is no other health and antioxidant drink that comes even close to Viva.

SPORTRON SOUTH AFRICA

I have just returned from South Africa where I attended Sportron South Africa’s 16th National Convention.  It was a tremendous success with a record attendance and wonderful speakers.  Eleanor Scott, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, designed the entire convention around the theme, “Live Life Well.”  Everyone left the convention inspired, motivated and committed to share the Sportron Story and make a difference in people’s lives.

Engela Tomlinson was recognized as the 2009 Marketing Associate of the Year.

Hispanic Market

SportronMexico003Over the past few months Sportron has enjoyed some good growth in the Hispanic market.  We are now ready to explode.  We have all our literature and websites in Spanish, and recently we have enrolled a number of very powerful and experienced network marketing leaders.

SportronMexico002This week we were pleased to hold a Mexican summit in our offices.  Present were our recently appointed President of Mexico, Felix Arias Rodriguez and his wife Maria Elena.  Also present was Loel Passe, a former Sportron Executive Director, who after a number of stops in our industry, has come back home, saying there is nothing like the Sportron products and plan.  Loel is already starting to build a massive team, and bringing a lot of excitement and enthusiasm.

 SportronMexico

Pre-launch and pre-enrolling activities have already started in Mexico.  Felix and his wife have a 20 year success record in network marketing in Mexico,  and we are all very excited to have Felix and Maria Elena as part of our Sportron team and family.  We expect to start selling products in Mexico towards the end of September.  Because of our global compensation plan, you can also take advantage of the expansion and build your Sportron business in Mexico.  These are some of the most exciting days in our Sportron history.

Here are some facts:

The Hispanic population in the USA is the fastest growing group.  These are the facts as of July 1, 2007.

  • Total US population = 301.6 million
  • Total White population = 201 million (67%)
  • Total Hispanic population = 45.5 million (15.1%)
  • Total Black population = 40.7 million (13%)

The present trend and all experts predict the US Hispanic population will triple by 2050.  These are the predictions for 2050.

  • Total US population = 438 million
  • Total White population = 206 million (47%)
  • Total Hispanic population = 127 million (29%)
  • Total Black population = 57 million (13%)

Today the Hispanic purchasing power is $800 billion.  Hispanics are coming to the US for the dream — the dream of improving life for themselves and their families, both in the US and in Mexico.  Sportron is the ideal business opportunity to help them achieve and realize their goals.  Hispanics are looking for opportunities that don’t involve a large investment.  We can help them — you can help them.

The time of targeting the Hispanic market in the US,  and opening Mexico at the same time, is perfect.  The Hispanics living in the US will also be able to build their business in Mexico,  and vice versa, the Mexicans will be able to build their business in the US.

This is BIG and provides you an opportunity to be part of this exploding market.  I encourage you to start developing a list of Hispanics in the US that you will approach.  Hispanics are family-oriented, they are hard workers and are looking to earn more money.

This weekend I am leaving for a one-week trip to attend the Sportron South African Convention to be held in Johannesburg.  I expect this one to be their biggest and best.  Sportron South Africa continues to grow year after year,  and is one of the country’s largest and certainly most respected network marketing companies.

I will not post another blog for about 10 days.  I will give you a full report of my trip upon my return.

What’s Happening in Sportron

The past two weeks have been both very busy and exciting.  We had the pleasure of having Dr. Tomlinson visit our country,  and our new office.  We took full advantage of Dr. Alan’s visit and did a number of videos where Dr. Alan trained on the importance of FoodMatrix and the principles that Sportron stands for.  We also had a number of very important conference calls with network marketing leaders.  Many of them had previously been in Sportron, and after working a number of different companies, they are coming back home.  They are coming home because they see in Sportron both products and an opportunity that is unmatched.  As one top leader said to me, ” The prodigal sons are coming home.”

We are also in very serious discussions with a massive network marketing leader from Mexico.  This leader and his wife will be visiting our offices and factory in Dallas next week.  I will keep you informed on the progress and when we expect to launch Sportron Mexico.

Sportron Asia is enjoying a second wave of explosion.  At a recent meeting in Bangkok, they enrolled more than 500 new members in one afternoon.  Dr. Alan and I also visited the beautiful island of Curacao where we held two very successful meetings.  On Friday night we had a full house and more than 100 new members joined.  On Saturday night, Dr. Alan spoke to invited doctors and medical professionals.  Both meetings were extremely successful.

In addition to all these activities, we enjoyed seven wonderful days with 55 of our top leaders cruising the Caribbean.  Everyone had a great time.  I just wish you could have been there to enjoy this experience.  On the cruise we announced our 2010 incentive trip to the Moon Palace.  This trip is very simple to achieve.  Just build your business and you will be part of this amazing adventure.  You can go to www.sportron.com and view the video to find out what you need to do to be one of the achievers.  We are expecting a huge number of people from the USA, Mexico, the Caribbean and Asia.

In the next few days, you will be receiving from Kevin, Dr. Alan’s training videos and our August video message.

I appreciate you.

Experience Explosive Growth

If you have been a regular reader of my blogs, you would know that I am a big fan of the leadership books written by John Maxwell.  One of his books that I would highly recommend is The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

One of the things I do is to make sure that I am learning, growing and developing every day.  You see, leadership is a process.  You develop leadership daily, not in a day.  Warren Bennis, the successful author of Leadership said, “It is the capacity to develop and improve their skills that distinguishes leaders from their followers.”  Successful leaders are learners, and the learning process is ongoing.

Today I would like to leave you with one of the laws that John Maxwell writes about—The Law of Explosive Growth.

Leaders who develop followers grow their organization only one person at a time.  But leaders who develop leaders multiply their growth because for every leader they develop, they also receive all of that leader’s followers.  Add ten followers and you have ten people.  Add ten leaders to your organization and you have the power of ten leaders times all the followers and leaders they influence.  That’s the difference between addition and multiplication.  It’s like growing your organization by teams instead of by individuals.  The better the leaders you develop, the greater the quality and quantity of followers.  Becoming a leader who develops leaders requires an entirely different focus and attitude.  Consider some of the differences:

Leaders Who   Leaders Who
Develop Followers   Develop Leaders

Need to be needed   Want to be succeeded

Focus on weaknesses Focus on strengths

Develop the bottom   Develop the top
20 percent   20 percent

Treat their people   Treat their leaders as
the same for “fairness” individuals for impact

Hoard power   Give power away

Spend time with others Invest time in others

Grow by addition   Grow by multiplication

Impact only people   Impact people far
they touch personally beyond their own reach

I don’t know where you are in your journey of leadership development.  You may be working on your leadership growth, or you may already be a highly developed leader.  No matter where you are, I know one thing:  You will go to the highest level only if you begin developing leaders instead of followers.  Leaders who develop leaders experience an incredible multiplication effect in their organizations that can be achieved in no other way.  That’s the incredible power of the Law of Explosive Growth.

I will not post another blog for about ten days, as we will be taking 55 of Sportron’s top leaders on a 7-day Caribbean cruise.

The Success Formula

Have you ever wondered why some people, who seem to you to be ordinary people, achieve extraordinary results?  What makes achievers excel?  Why do some people skyrocket while others fall back or stay even?  The average achievers call it luck.  It’s not luck, not wealth, not family background, not even better opportunities; it’s simply how they respond to failure.

The main reason most people don’t succeed in Network Marketing is because they cannot handle the adversity, the disappointments and the emotional roller coaster.  I love what Wallace Hamilton said, “People are training for success when they should be training for failure.  Failure is far more common than success.”  That simply means how to respond to failure how to learn from failure and how to turn failure into success.

John Maxwell in his book  Failing Forward  (which I recommend you buy and read) said, “There is no achievement without failure.  To even imply that it might be possible gives people the wrong impression.”

I don’t know what obstacles you are facing in your life, but whatever they are doesn’t matter.  What does matter is your life can change.  You have the potential to overcome any problems, mistakes or misfortunes.  Think about a recent setback.  How did you respond?  No matter how difficult your problems were or are, the key to overcoming them doesn’t lie in changing your circumstances.   It’s in changing yourself.

John Maxwell in his book lists these two columns:

Failing Backward                                              Failing Forward

Blaming Others                                               Taking Responsibility

Repeating the Same Mistakes                           Learning from Each Mistake

Expecting Never to Fail Again                           Knowing Failure Is a Part of Progress

Expecting to Continually Fail                             Maintaining a Positive Attitude

Accepting Tradition Blindly                               Challenging Outdated Assumptions

Being Limited by Past Mistakes                         Taking New Risks

Thinking I am a Failure                                    Believing Something Didn’t Work

Quitting                                                          Persevering

   Thought for the Day:

God Bless America

ameicanflagMy family and I immigrated to the USA 31 years ago (1978.)  In 1985 we became citizens of this wonderful country.  We are Americans, not by birth but by choice.  It’s a decision that we have never regretted.

Tomorrow, July 4th, America will be celebrating her 233 birthday.  America is a great country, not because of our government but because of our people.  I find most Americans are positive people with a can do spirit.  I heard a lady say this on the radio the other day, “I know what we are facing today is challenging.  Instead of 10 percent unemployment, I look at the 90 percent that are still working.  Recently I lost my job.  I’m unemployed but I’m using this opportunity to start my own design and engineering firm.”   That’s the American spirit.  That’s what makes America the Land of Opportunity.

I firmly believe the United States of America is a great country.  There is a lot of negativity going around these days about the economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, big oil companies and our government.  However, since this weekend we celebrate the birth of our nation, I thought it was fitting to remind everyone just how great it is here in the U.S.  It is easy to get down on how things are going if we listen frequently to the news media,  but we need to remember that the circumstances we face do not make the country.  It is “We the People.”

         I love America because of:

  • Its Freedom.  No other country in the world compares.  People from other countries may criticize America, but it is this country they dream about and wish they could live in.
  • Its Opportunity.  America truly is the Land of Opportunity.  Immigrants by the millions come to America for the opportunity of a better life and brighter tomorrow.
  • Its Generosity.  The American people are the most generous in the world.

This 4th of July celebrate all that is good about America. Remind yourself of what it means to be an American.  Remember all those that have gone before us and that have paid an enormous price for all that we enjoy today.

We are including in this blog a beautiful patriotic video/song, prepared by Kevin.  Watch and Enjoy.

The Perseverance Factor

Perseverance and failure cannot coexist.  Failure happens when you quit.  When all is said and done, perseverance, commonly referred to as “stick-to-itiveness,” is the ultimate success insurance.  Nothing can take its place.

Like the old adage of getting up just one more time than you have been knocked down, “Staying with it” applies to so much that is good and healthful in life!  From learning to walk to riding a bicycle, our childhood teaches us that failure only occurs when we stop trying.  It’s a lesson many of us need to revisit in our adulthood.  Then we need to consciously apply the techniques and principles that keep us on the “perseverance track.”

For example, the world is full of those who “tried” to get a business going.  After meeting with difficulty or rejections, they quit.  They accepted failure, and faded back into the crowd never to be heard from again.  The worst part is not that they quit their business, but that they quit themselves.

Why should succeeding at a business be easier than learning to ski or to play the piano?  We are likely to stumble at first. It’s part of the learning process.  Ultimately, the people who persevere through the stumbling process learn enough to become successful.  It’s “staying with it” that separates the successful from the “wanes.”  Remember the words of Vince Lombardi, “We never lost a game, we just ran out of time.”

“Perseverance is the insurance policy and common denominator for success.  So powerful is perseverance that failure cannot exist in its presence.  As Edison observed when after thousands of efforts to make the electric light bulb produced no illumination, “I haven’t failed.  I’ve identified 10,000 ways this doesn’t work.”  By accurately viewing it as a learning experience, eventually Edison succeeded , leaving the critics and nay-sayers one of mankind’s most important inventions.

Charles Schulz, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Colonel Sanders, Thomas Edison, Ayn Rand and the endless list of other persistent great achievers found that success inevitably arrives for every person who perseveres.  Learn from the people who did it:  Let perseverance keep your goals alive.  And your dreams real.

Do what you love to do.  Stand up for what you believe in.  Make it a part of your life.  Work toward it every day.  Remember with every “No” you are that much closer to a “Yes.”  And by learning from each defeat and staying the course, success is inevitable.

These are people who persevered despite handicaps and disabilities:

  • Beethoven (composer) – was deaf
  • Ray Charles (musician) – is blind
  • Thomas Edison (inventor) – had a learning problem
  • Albert Einstein (scientist) – had a learning disability
  • Terry Fox (runner) – is an amputee with cancer
  • Stevie Wonder (musician) – is blind
  • James Earl Jones (actor) – was a stutterer
  • Helen Keller (author) – was deaf and blind
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt (president) – was paralyzed from polio
  • Vincent Van Gogh (artist) – was mentally ill
  • Woodrow Wilson (president) – had a learning problem
  • Itzhak Perlman (concern violinist) – was paralyzed from waist down

Thought for the Day:

“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.”  –Newt Gingrich

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.”                –Ralph Waldo Emerson

Six Pillars of Character

A person’s observable behavior is an indication of their character.  This behavior can be strong or weak, good or bad.  A person with strong character shows drive, energy, determination, self-discipline, will power, and nerve.  They see what they want and go after it.  They attract followers.  On the other hand, a person with weak character shows none of these traits.  They do not know what they want.  Their traits are disorganized, they vacillate and are inconsistent.  They will attract no followers.

A strong person can be good or bad.  A gang leader is an example of a strong person with a bad character, while an outstanding community leader is one with both strong and good characteristics.  An organization needs leaders with both strong and good characteristics, people who will guide them to the future and show that they can be trusted.

Here are the Six Pillars of Character:

I.     Trustworthiness

Be honest.  Don’t deceive, cheat or steal.  Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do.  Have the courage to do the right thing.  Build a good reputation.  Be Loyal — stand by your family, friends and country.

II.   Respect

Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule.  Be tolerant of differences.  Use good manners, not bad language.  Be considerate of the feelings of others.  Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone.  Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements.

III. Responsibility

Do what you are supposed to do.  Persevere:  keep on trying!  Always do your best.  Use self-control.  Be self-disciplined.  Think before you act — consider the consequences.  Be accountable for your choices.

IV. Fairness

Play by the rules.  Take turns and share.  Be open-minded; listen to others.  Don’t take advantage of others.  Don’t blame others carelessly.

V.   Caring

Be kind.  Be compassionate and show you care.  Express gratitude.  Forgive others.  Help people in need.

VI. Citizenship

Do your share to make your school and community better.  Cooperate.  Get involved in Community affairs.  Stay informed; vote.  Be a good neighbor.  Obey laws and rules.  Respect authority.  Protect the environment.

Thought for the Day:

Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open.

–Elmer G. Letterman
